Volunteers make a difference for patients and families at Cook Children's every day by giving the gift of their time and energy in more than 50 departments in the medical center, community clinics and locations throughout Tarrant and Denton County.
Making a difference
When you become an adult volunteer at Cook Children's you'll make a huge difference in the lives of our patients
Playing with patients and siblings in the playroom or at bedside, comforting infants and toddlers, directing visitors, distributing comfort items to parents, and helping in the gift shop are just a few of the many ways our volunteers support patients, families, and staff.
Volunteering at Cook Children's has given me more pride in our community, opened my eyes to the many needs in the world around me, and helped me to feel fulfilled while helping others.
Become an adult volunteer
Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, out of high school, and meet screening and orientation requirements. Volunteer opportunities are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week. Placements are scheduled according to staff requests and the volunteer's availability.

- Child Life Summer Student Volunteer Application
The Child Life Summer-Only Volunteer Program is designed for college students pursuing a degree in Child Life who attend school outside of the DFW area but will be local to the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the summer. Students must be declared Child Life Students to participate.
Volunteers gain hands-on experience supporting the Child Life team through developmentally appropriate activities, crafts, games, and special events that promote normalization and positive experiences for pediatric patients and families. Student must be able to commit to a minimum of 50 hour over the course of the summer.
Application opens March 1 and remains open for one month.
College and junior volunteers
Volunteering during college is a wonderful opportunity for you to interact with and support patients and families while gaining valuable experience in your field of study. Applications for the College Student Volunteer Program are open to Sophomore, Junior and Senior students, April 1- May 1.
Junior Volunteers - Fort Worth
If you're a teen in high school and you'd like to be part of a program that makes a difference in the lives of patients, become a junior volunteer for the summer. Applications for the Junior Volunteer Program are open December 1 - January 1.

| Patient Registration Escort | Walk families to their destination from registration as you help them feel welcome and at ease. Most escorts are to the same few areas: surgery, radiology, special procedures area (SPA), and ECHO. | Weekdays |
| Flavor Facilitator | Assist with community nutrition classes to ensure a fun, safe and engaging experience. Help with food preparation, keep class members engaged, and clean the space after class time. Home cook experience is necessary. Volunteer safety
Safety is of the utmost importance in protecting the patients and yourself as you volunteer in the medical setting. Please view the volunteer safety information as part of your training. When you have finished viewing the presentation, please complete the safety review test.
After completing the safety test, you may call or email the volunteer office to set up your orientation date/time.
